Location of Reverse Polarity Fuse??

After I mistakenly plugged into a reverse current circuit, the circuit protector on my powerline seemed to have properly blocked the charge, and my battery continues to be properly charged and everything electrically except the refrigerator works fine.... but now the red light adjacent to the "Appliance fuse" is lit and the refrigerator (which works fine on propane) will not work on electricity. The Appliance fuse itself is actually okay because when I remove it, the refrigerator lights that show what it is powered by, go out, and come back on when the same fuse is reinserted. There is a written statement on the CB/Fuse box that states that hooking up to reverse polarity will blow the Reverse Polarity Fuse...which I assume may be my problem. My immediate problem though, is that I don't know where this Reverse Polarity fuse is located. None of the fuses in my fuse box are labeled as such. I looked beneath the tongue where there are wire connections but do not see anything that I recognize as a fuse. Can anyone tell me, for sure, what is causing the red light by my Appliance Fuse to glow, since it isn't being caused by the adjacent Appl fuse itself....and why the refrigerator won't work on electricity....and where the Reverse Polarity Fuse is located?

Was the reverse polarity circuit that you plugged into 120 volt shore power with the hot/neutral switched?

If everything is working and the battery is charging on shore power, your reverse polarity fuses aren't blown. They are to protect the converter, etc. in case you connect the battery(s) backwards.

When you unplug the appliance fuse, does the red light stay on?
Can you post a picture of the power panel?

The fridge electric is 120 volts and the element is powered through a breaker and not a fuse. Have you checked all the breakers?
Have you checked all the GFCI receptacles in the RV to be sure one of them isn't tripped, including the one outside in the fridge compartment?

Do all the other receptacles in the RV have power to them?

Thanks for the nice informative reply!!! Yes, I have recycled the Refer CB which wasn't tripped...this didn't help. And yes, the red light directly beside the Appl fuse stays red, no matter what. This Appl fuse itself is positively okay from a visual inspection, and besides, the electric/propane/on/off/check selection lights at the top of the refer go out when the fuse is removed, and come back on when the fuse is reinserted. It is nice to know that the orange 40 amp fuses are just to protect the control/distro box. I was not aware of a GFI plug outside behind the refer....the only one I knew about was one in the bathroom. This will be my next thing to check. I can send a photo but it won't show much....just the row of CB's on the left and row of fuses on the right, with a lightbulb adjacent to each fuse....and the only lit bulb is the one beside the Appl fuse. When I recycle the refer ON/OFF/electric/propane/check switch, only the electric use light initially comes on, showing that the refer is (is trying to be) powered by electricity rather than propane, however after two or so minutes, both the electric and Check lights both come on, showing that it is NOT being powered by electricity. I'll get back to you after I try to find a possible GFI plug that the refer is plugged into. Again, thanks so much for your help!!!

If the led stays red it means an open fuse, why not try another fuse in there to see if red led goes off....unless there is a malfunction with led wiring......

I agree. Change the fuse anyways. I have seen pefectly "good looking" fuses be bad.

Will do....I hope the problem turns out to be something as simple as a bad fuse. If that doesn't work I'll then try to find a hidden GFI plug....I surely appreciate your inputs!!!!

Fuse is DC. Change the fuse, they are cheap. If that solves the problem, throw that fuse away. Purchase an assortment of replacement fuses and have them handy. Personally, I bought a set from a manufacturer in North America. QA is usually a bit better.

Your reefer circuit board probably has a small fuse on it to protect the board from reverse polarity. The board is located under a black or green cover and is located on the back side of your reefer.

You will have to remove the outer cover on the side of your camper to access it. Usually a screw or two secure the cover to the circuit board. Look for a round fuse with silver ends and a glass center. MAKE SURE you buy a fuse rated for the same voltage and amperage as the fuse you are replacing.

Thanks to all for the great advice. As some of you wrote, I finally found the barrel-shaped two glass fuses inside of a latched-closed black plastic box inside the cover on the rear outside of the trailer. I replaced the 5 amp blown one which fixed the refer problem. The red light beside the DC Appl fuse inside the main internal fuse box is still glowing red but I am not aware of anything in the trailer that isn't working. Maybe I can find a schematic of what all is down stream from that fuse and disconnect each one, separately, to see if I can find why that light glows. The old 15 amp fuse beside it was good but I replaced it with a new one which is also good----this fuse controls the ceiling light above the fuse box and the ON/OFF/CHECK lights on the refer, but at this point I don't know what else it controls. Thanks again to all who replied....I really appreciate the help....Cadiz Couple

Ok guys I'm brand new to camping. Just purchased a FR surveyor 245bhs. I have tried shore power and generator. 12 volt system will not charge unless i put a battery tender on it. Ive been reading this thread and want to make sure before i do anything to put it in the shop just before our first trip out.
Is this the culprit? Neither one has a fuse in it.Click image for larger version

Yes there should be fuses in there. I can't tell you what rating, most likely 30A but I've seen 40A too. Hopefully somebody with a similar trailer can help.

Thank you. Previous pictures had 40 amp fuses. I will start with 30's

if you could provide make and model of the converter it could be looked up and the proper size fuses verified. also, is this a new unit?

If you look closely at the circuit board it says Reverse Battery Protection Fuses.
Most have 40a fuses.

Who was your dealer?
If they didn't catch that... well... I feel for you.
