Lord of the Locking Ring

Noticed the locking ring on my 50 amp camper plug has a crack. This is the original molded cord that came with the camper. Is there a way to replace just the ring or am I up the creek and have to install a new plug and boot? Thoughts?

suggested use some epoxy to fasten it back together and a hose clamp to hold it while the epoxy is curing.

I know Furrion makes them not sure if it would fit your cord though. I found this on etrailer.

Thanks! I’ll order one and give it a try. I’ll follow up afterwards.

I had the same issue with a Furrion shore cord on a past camper. They sent me both a plastic AND metal lock ring for free. I just called and nicely asked if they could help me.

You could use this opportunity as an excuse to upgrade to a plug and receptacle that makes a more solid connection.

How do you get it on? Does it fit over the other end of the cord? If it does, I would probably put it on backwards on my first try..

I was able to 'sneak' it over at the camper end. Takes a little 'English' but it's doable.

it takes a bit of an effort to get it on. if i remember the real problem was holding the cord steady so you could line up the new ring and force it over the end of the cord. i don't remember exactly how i did it. also some dish washing soap applied to the cord end to allow the new rings to glide over it. i think i aligned the ring, put some blocks on it, and then tapped the blocks to get it on.
