Mixing Battery Sizes?

Just picked up Apex 213RDS with single group 27 battery. I've a nearly new group 24 from my old unit. Can i add it? I've seen a few comments suggesting not.

It is best to keep batteries the same size and technology. They will work, but because they will charge and discharge at different percentages, you will lower the life of the batteries. If you do it, you need to base your discharge limit on the lowest capacity battery

Using them together for electrical power is not ideal but can be done. However, you should not charge them at the same time. If you wish to go this route, strongly suggest you have a battery selector switch so you can only charge one at a time via your converter.

Personally, I would pony up and buy a second matching battery and perhaps use the third battery as switch selectable emergency backup if you do a lot of dry camping.
