Question New battery will not stay charged

Have 2008 Cherokee 255 Lite, just bought. battery will not stay charged,(New battery) is there a switch somewhere or is the convertor to automatically charge battery

Probably no battery disconnect switch on yours, however it's not a bad idea to add one someday.

There is also a circuit breaker in-line with the battery's positive wire that goes to the RV. If it has opened for any reason, you need to re-set it before the converter will charge your battery. However, if you are able to draw down the battery when NOT on "shore power", that breaker is OK. It's usually located on the frame, just aft of the battery somewhere. Follow the positive wire on the battery back to it.

Yes, the converter is supposed to also act as the battery charger, as well as supplying the +12 volts when the RV is plugged into 110-volts.

You cannot leave batteries connected when not hooked to shore power.
Parasitic draws will drain them.

Either leave shore power plugged in or disconnect batteries.

If you cannot leave plugged into shore power get a battery disconnect installed.
