It strikes me that if my electrical management system reported out of spec voltage, I'd be after the campground for another site rather than attempting to pull more current from an already overstressed supply system.

Often times low voltage isn't limited to just one site. If a campground has expanded too much over the years... and didn't upgrade their grid while doing so... voltage drops under high demand.

The voltage booster resolves that problem.

The booster (transformer) will draw a little current on its own in order to step up the voltage, however that current draw is less than the current draw of your appliances/ac-units caused by under voltage.

Donl't know where that extra juice comes from? "Energy can be neither created nor destroyed". You can't get more voltage and current from an overtaxed supply.

Look up the term transformer.

What Hughes has done with their Autoformer is nothing new, they just packaged it up in a RV-specific application... which is very cool and, in my opinion, a mandatory item in my camping supplies.
