No 110AC without 12VDC connected

Hi,
2005 Forrest River 26BH TT
Well my original question why my Dometic Fridge and Suburban Furnace did not work when I was hooked to shore power and had batteries removed for replacement ? Owners install manuals state the controls are 12v. So I check my Parallax 7355 and it's Kaput !

My neighbor said his Dad may be able to replace the capacitors (both bulging and leaking some) or I can upgrade the unit to three stage charging, not fry my batteries and leave it plugged indefintly for $$$.

You see I was bad. I had good luck checking the battery water every 6 months until the last 6. I'm not sure the Parallax boiled them dry. I think the Parallax failed and the CO2 detector drained. I don't know.

How long should converter last ? In storage plugged in ? Is there any other inline options to the three stage charging system ?

Thanks and God Bless

Tim

My suggestion would be to replace it with a Progressive Dynamics 9200 series Converter. They are available in several sizes (40 to 80 amps if I remember) and you'll have a state of the art Converter.

Check out the PD Site, and if you'd consider a factory reconditioned from them (that's what I buy) check this link.

In reading your post something jumped into my head. When you pulled the batteries did you cover the positive cable so it could not short out against the frame when hooked into shore power 120V? I would believe this situation should only blow a fuse but still not good for the Charger/Converter
