Unhappy No Power at Fridge Outlet 2017 FR 276 RLIS 5th Wheel

Have gone through trailer, have power everywhere but fridge outlet. There is also the outlet next to fridge without power. Breaker has power, need trail of wiring from Breaker to fridge. Wiring diagram, or experience? Appreciate any help.

Have you checked the bathroom GFI outlet, to see if it needs to be reset?

Is the inverter breaker on? Typically the shore power goes thru a breaker labeled , at least on my 5th wheel, inverter or fridge. Make sure it is completely reset by turning the breaker all the way off and then back on.

Do,you know where your inverter is?

Are you at a 50 amp site? You could have a leg down. Reset your main 50 amp, breakers at the pedestal and in your rv breaker panel by forcing them all the way off and then back on.

My inverter has a 15 amp ac output fuse on the front panel.

Here is the inverter. Dean is sleeping right at the moment, this is Kim. We have no power between the fridge outlet and the outlet beside the fridge, but power everywhere else. Inverter is 1000Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter. I hope that helps. Kim

Sorry no power at both outlets (fridge plugged into behind fridge and the outlet on the wall that is between the fridge and the countertop). But we have power everywhere else. Is there another GFI outlet somewhere on this trailer that we havne't found? Thanks for any help, appreciated. k

Success! It appears that a fuse on the back of the inverter needed either reset or replaced. We were under the impression that that inverter did not need to be on all the time, but apparently it does?

Glad to hear you found the issue. Your inverter does not need to be on all the time but it does have a 15 amp 120vac output fuse.

Does your inverter look like this?

Since she had no power to the receptacle prior to fixing the inverter, and having the receptacle the reefer is plugged into re-energized when the inverter fuse was replaced, it seems to me that as long as her reefer is plugged into that one receptacle the inverter DOES need to be on all the time.

It would not matter if the inverter was on or off if the 120 vac output fuse was blown. I’m not an inverter expert but I would assume the 15 amp fuse is at the output of the inverter (That is how it is labeled in my inverter manual as 120 vac output fuse) It will blow regardless if the 120 vac is being passed thru the inverter from shore power or if the 120 vac is being generated by the inverter.

The purpose and function of an inverter is to use 12 Volt DC and create 120 volt AC. Is there a 120 volt input as well?

Yes, there is 120 vac shore power that routes to the inverter. On my unit there is an ac outlet that the inverter plugs into. This ac outlet is powered by the 120 vac shore power. The shore power is routed through a breaker in the breaker panel labeled inverter or fridge.

There are several scenarios of how the ac gets to the fridge.

Scenario 1. On shore power, inverter off. The shore power just passes thru the inverter to the fridge.

Scenery 2. On shore power and inverter on. The inverter is now in ‘standby’ mode. It senses the 120 vac input and just passes the ac thru to the fridge.

Scenario 3. No shore power or breaker tripped and inverter on. The inverter senses the 120 vac is not present. It then switches the inverter generated 120 vac to the fridge. It is now in ‘active’ mode and generating 120 vac from the 12 volt batteries.

Scenario 4. No shore power, inverter off. There will be no power to the fridge.

Find your inverter. It will be real close to your batteries. It will have its own set of battery leads. Look at the back and see how your is wired to the ac. Mine has a regular power cord that plugs to a receptacle. Some may be hard wired. Check it out..
