Opinion of Fusion Inverters from NAPA

NAPA has a 3-day online sale on a couple of these that are Pure Sine Wave models. Anyone have an opinion on them overall. Will be using with my small solar setup. Sell may end today.

Example: 300 Watt Pure Sine wave ~50% off now $126 but for me when I chose "Pick up in store" it went down to $70. There is also a 600 Watt for ~$184.

Sounds like it’s a little on the expensive side when compared to similar units.

Just as an update, I bought this 300 watt unit and gave it an actual test in our camper. Plugged it into the 12VDC port near our TV, attached the ~28" flat panel TV (rated at 120VAC,1A, which = 120 watts) and a little 5 watt DVD player. After about 15 minutes of watching a DVD movie, it smoked. The box was not hot, no alarms or error LEDs, and the cooling fan never cycled ON. White smoke started rolling out. I quickly cut it OFF and took it back to NAPA. They refunded my money without hesitation.

Anyone have a brand name they'd recommend at a reasonable price? All I need is about 300 Watt but will consider going up to 600 Watts or so.

AS always, the brand mentioned above on Amazon had good and bad reviews.

Refer to post #3 above. I’ve been using two of these for a couple of years now with no problems at all.

My standard procedure for Chinese electronics is a safe "Burn in" test for at least 5 days. This is a new bench power supply that is currently running under load. Keeping it in the metal pans and on concrete floor away from combustibles.

Hopefully a safe setup if it releases the factory-installed smoke.

I've had one of these closing in on four years. It's actually only 900W continuous. There may be a smaller version.

We punish it mercilessly with a microwave, an espresso maker and a toaster. It can handle only one at a time, of course, but we often (very very often) turn on a second device before shutting off the previous one and the unit shuts down as it should. We have a remote start/stop that we use to kick it back on each time we overload it. I've only heard the fan run once when the battery compartment it's in got hot from a hot day and it and two solar controllers running hard. Though the fan is only audible from outside so I may have missed it running a few times.

BTW, the microwave on it is an inverter type so can be set to stay under 900W. The espresso maker draws 1005W but has never caused the unit to trip (unless something else is running).

If they make a 600W, I'd endorse it.
