Paralax Series 7400 Model 7455 help

I have a 2008 Cardinal 39RKS. The other day I parked it and emptied the water filter and I found the 30amp plastic fuse and fuse holder melted on my converter. I am sure I will need to replace the Paralax Series 7400 model 7455 but it is now obsolete. Question 1, What do I need to look for as a possible cause of the problem. Question 2, Any advise on the best replacement for this now obsolete converter.

thanks in advance.

I upgraded my 2001 Mirada converter (7345) with a new 4 stage converter.
Two benefits of the multistage -

1) When I apply shore power (or generator) the converter kicks into high gear and charges the battery fast. We recently did this when we were camped out in the desert for a few days near Buckeye AZ

2) When I'm plugged into shore power for a long time, the converter kicks into low gear and doesn't boil the battery.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.
