Powering a Furrion Camera

On the multimeter set the setting to DC voltage the black wire goes to ground (-)and the red wire goes to the hot wire (+). With power On touch the black lead to the one you suspect is the ground wire and touch red lead to the other wire. If you have it hooked up right the voltage value on the meter will be a positive value. If you have it backwards the value will be a negative value. Like the guy before me said take your meter to your battery and try this out there and you'll see how the voltage reads positive when hooked up correctly and negative when it's hooked up backwards.

OK I removed the camera mount and disconnected the wires from my marker lights.

I plan on soldering and shrink wrap the fine 20/22 gauge camera wires to a larger 16 gauge wire, than use crimp nuts to reattach to my TT marker lights. Hope this will fix my issue?

What is the best type of caulking Silicone/Latex I should use to seal the holes and mount back on my TT?

Last time I used silicone it peeled off very easily.

3M 5200 Marine sealant. It's a bear to work with, but it lasts FOREVER!!

Agree that 5200 lasts forever. I would recommend 4200 in the event you might want to get it off. I use 4200 on my hull-mounted sonar transducers and am not worried about the hull penetrations. I’m glad I went with 4200 vice 5200 when I had to replace them last spring.

Finally had a rain free day off to address the issue.
Re-Connected my camera to RV works great so far.
I’ll be doing a road test sometime this week.

Used 3M 4200 sealant / adhesive to seal the mounting bracket, bought the smaller 10oz size. Hope the unused portion lasts in the tube, stuffs not cheap.

Ok, took hooked up TT to TV took a little drive to check my Furrion, worked great for about 5-6 miles. Then it was in and out maybe a little more in this time but not constant. Thinking something stops working after it warms up?

I did notice that while sitting in my driveway I have one-two bars on the monitor, when I hold it outside the driver’s side window was getting four. Read somewhere the Ford’s aluminum body can affect the monitors from receiving a steady signal?

I’ve tried a longer antenna on the monitor (from a WIFI router) even bought a fifteen foot extension antenna and Velcro to back window of my truck, neither help any.

If anyone has any suggestions I’m open to your ideas, please

Was the blue light on (on the camera) when it wasn't working?

Don't know I was on the Freeway going 45-60 MPH.
It's on when I'm stopped, and parked in driveway, cuts out when moving.
My TT is 24 foot long TV is Ford Screw

Thought I'd contact Furrion customer service to see if I can send it back to them and have them check out both the camera & monitor.

I'd agree that something is up... I hope they do right by you.

Sadly, another option is to buy a new one. Swap out and return. They're solving their problem indirectly then.....

Just doesn’t seem right to do that.

I left the camera on my RV since I purchased it back in April of this year and the housing is weathered. I also felt I would loss the tiny screws used to mount the camera and the plastic screw holes would wear out, used our RV once a month. So hope they can service it.

In these threads no one mentioned the umbilical where it plugs into the TV. I have seen with mine that if I haven't pushed it in tight to the TV I'll get a trailer connection warning. I think the camera is sensitive to power loss. The other issue I have noticed is interference. In congested areas I will drop out and once I get past it will work fine.

I've been following along with what you are doing to fix your issue. I still have the same issues as you do. Great picture when sitting still. Start moving, and I get a new freeze frame every 2 seconds or so when going 35-45, then a new picture in black and white every 10-12 seconds at highway speed.

Thought I’d tried a longer antenna on my camera?
I’ll need to take my Dremel to the antenna base or the camera mounting bracket, not sure which; the base of the longer antenna is a little larger diameter.
