I am smart enough to buy a surge protector but not smart enough to know what to do when there is an error. My surge protector showed a Reverse Polarity error and wouldn't allow power to my Forester. The park employee said the power pole was fine and plugged my unit into the outlet directly. I have power and before reading all the information on these forums I would have been fine with it. What could/might happen if I leave this plugged in? Lesson #2: I don't have a tester with me! Thanks for any info/comfort!
Plug your surge protector into a couple other pedestals and see what they show.
If they are all reverse, then I suspect the entire campground has a problem.
If some other ones are OK... grab that park employee and ask him why your pedestal doesn't show OK.

Also, if they tell you it is fine and won't check it out, let us know which campground it is, so we can avoid it!

Never Enough Time Camping!!
Thank you for your quick replies. I followed your suggestions and cheeked the surrounding sites. They were error free. Returned to my site and still the same error. Called the park office and the staff had gone home. This is a State Park. They said they would send someone over in the morning. In the meantime I connected to a neighboring site using my extension cord. My friends arrived to their site tonight and within minutes the husband tested both sites and changed the incorrect wiring in our pedestal! All good now! I will sleep well tonight. Love this forum!
