Reverse Polarity Fuse?

I have a 2011 Flagstaff 8528RKWS. Like a idiot I hooked the battery connections up in reverse. Hot to ground. Not smart. In my breaker panel it states Reverse Polarity Fuse. Fuse blows when battery is connected in reverse. Replacing fuse with same Amperage Littelfuse Type 257.
My question is where is it located? Looked along frame for reset breaker boxes I was told my unit had. Did not find such a thing after taking the underbelly out from front to back with no luck.

In my breaker panel I have 2 40Amp fuses that look good. Could they be the problem?
Looking for help. Lights work on 110 power but not on battery. Slides and jack work on battery.

I believe but not sure on your model but it should be the 2 40amp fuses

The two 40 amp fuses should be the reverse polarity fuses.

The circuit breaker would look similar to this with a small reset button. It should be attached to the frame within 2-4 ft from the battery on the positive cable

I have seen those breakers by the battery. They have a rubber type jacket over them. What do I use to reset them as the button is very small?

See post two of this thread ==> http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...se-137749.html.

Two dark red 40 amp fuses although they may not all be 40a.

I use my finger tip since mine don't have to be depressed far.

The button should stick out far enough to push in with your finger to reset.

I would still pull and test those two 40amp fuses at the breaker/fuse panel inside also. I would bet they blew long before the breaker at the battery area even came close to tripping. Those breakers are a thermal type breaker and it takes x seconds at y amperage to trip them, and the fuse is basically an "instant" thing.

of course check the fuses with a meter (not your eye). but it was also stated that lights work on 120 vac which implies that the converter is actually outputting 12 vdc.

also, the jacks and slides work off battery power. they are probably directly wired to the battery and do not go through that resettable breaker.

find the breaker and reset it to see if that helps.

are you sure that the batteries are now hooked up properly.

a couple of multimeter measurements would help
1. unplugged from shore power, measure the dc voltage across the battery terminals
2. now plug into shore power and take the same measurement

if the measurement does not change you are not getting a charge voltage from the converter to the batteries. this could easily be either the reverse polarity fuses or the resetable circuit breaker.

the battery disconnect switch is set to have the batteries connected, right?

I did the same thing last summer. Picked up camper in storage, dropped in battery, reversed red/black battery cables, short drive to local campground, backed into campsite, tongue jack worked, stabilizers worked, plugged into post, small pop and slide wouldn't go out. For me, it was 2 40a fuses in middle of fuse box, 5a fuse in back of radio, and 2 fuses in my TV (2011 Durango); were all blown. All of which were things people on this forum told me to check
Good luck.

The two reverse polarity fuses can either be int the distribution panel or on the back of the converter. They are generally 30 or 40A fuses. Usually brown or orange.

Be sure to label the battery cables as RV wiring does not always use standard color configurations
