richsolar controller

In my package solar I installed on the coach, has a richsolar 40-amp controller. My question is when I'm on shore power, my batteries read about 13.5 charged up. When on solar, they may get to 12.6, in the mich sun. I'd like to start the night if boondocking, with as many amps as possible. Wondering if the controller, has adjustment to raise the limit (amps) it puts in the batteries. If shorepower, does 13.5, I wish my solar could get close to that. The controller, may be like a renogy, it uses the renolgy BT-1.
I'm not sure if the 12.6 is a factory default.

Did you set the controller to match the battery type you have?

What type of battery?

12.6 is fully charged for a lead acid battery. However, I'm not sure where you are getting your numbers in your post.

For instance, 13.6 is typically what your converter will send to the batteries in Normal (Absorption) mode. So your readings will typically be around 13.5 at the battery on shore power until the batteries are full enough to kick the converter into trickle (Float) mode at 13.2V.

If your batteries are really depleted, the converter will run at 14.4 Bulk mode for a short period before settling back to 13.6v Absorption mode.

https://wfcoelectronics.com/three-st...n-a-converter/

On our 2104s with the wfco converter on shore power the battery monitor has only ever shown 13.5v charging when we return from camping or have left unplugged for a day or two to clean. Right now it is showing 13.1v. aas the trailer is plugged in all the time and is in float mode. If I unplug the trailer and let the batteries rest with no load, they will settle down to 12.6v in a few hours as this is the true charge reading at full.

On the solar.

Page 8 in the manual shows the led indicator for the array and battery.

What are the LED lights for Array and Battery showing while you on solar only?

Page 9 - 14 takes you through how to set up and allows for adjustments.

Maybe if you post a little more information regarding how you are seeing the battery charge state and what you are seeing on your charge controller, others will be able help. I am not real familiar with that controller. But it should be able to show you what mode it's in and votage/amps it's sending to the battery.

Factory default for that controller is 13.8 volts (float), so there is definitely something wrong.
