Rockwood HW296 A/C

Hello,

I am thinking about purchasing a Rockwood HW296 and I have a question about the AC. If I am hooked up to 30 amp shore power am I able to use the AC? Or do I need to buy a generator. In the near term I only plan on camping where I can use the shore power, maybe later going boondocking.
Thanks

Hi JHamilton, I see it is your 1st post, Welcome!

Do you know if you have a 30a shore power connection on your R/V?

I ask because 30a R/Vs come with ONE air conditioner.
50a R/V can have TWO.

Plugging a 30a R/V into a 30a pedestal will give you the necessary current to run your air conditioning.... PROVIDED... you do not try to run several other high amperage items at the same time.

High amperage items are things like a microwave and a water heater on electric, a blow dryer, curling iron, toaster, etc.

You will typically be able to use one or 'maybe' two of those items while running your air conditioner but not more.

Thanks for the reply! It has a 30 amp connection and 1 ac unit. I’m just trying to avoid the extra expense of having to get a generator right now.

No need to buy a generator if your near term plan is to only camp where there is a 30a connection.

A 30a shore power connection with your 30a R/V is all the power your R/V will ever need.
