Since we camp where you can't run generators over night, we have no concerns while sleeping.
We only run ours for 2-3 hours during daytime, when we're outside.
So it's usually in the bed of the truck when running.

Thank you for the many responses. When I do run my generator it typically is in the bed of my tow vehicle parked approx. 15 ft. from the trailer coupler. Typically run for 2-3 hours during the day only. I normally recharge the batteries with a portable solar suitcase panel. It is very informative to get everyone's thoughts on this since I don't have a lot of experience with portable generators. Thanks.

I run mine underneath the trailer, up front on the left side. The exhaust is facing forward. This way it's protected from the rain and I can chain it to the frame. Never had a problem with it. When you're burning a few ounces of gas an hour there simply isn't that much CO to dissipate. I've never had my CO alarm go off yet. I'm running a 2000 inverter generator.
