Our 2007 Cherokee 38P came with an AM/FM/WX/CD player system, with individual wire pairs to four interior speakers and an interior subwoofer. (Also pairs for two speakers outside and in the bedroom, and selector switches, but that's irrelevant.)
Essentially it was a 2.1 Audio system. Well, we like our DVDs and HD, and we prefer a 5.1 audio system. Speech directly in front of you with volume separately controlled. Rear speakers with separate channels so during adventure movies, you can hear that truck/plane sneaking up behind you. So I put in an inexpensive 5.1 channel "home theater" and wired it directly to the speakers. I used one of the speakers that came with it for the fifth speaker.
Needless to say, I was pleased to find that they had "home-run" wires from all the speakers so I could simply make the connections.
