Salem Hemisphere 286RL Speakers

Ok. RV was at dealer for repairs and they are telling me that the speakers inside do not balance from a left to right only the outside speakers. I had to find for them the shorted out speaker wires. Am I wrong on the speakers inside for the balance . Why would they have 4 sets of wires for indoor speakers.

We have a Crusie Lite and the original Furion stereo did not have a balance control for the speakers - or at least I never found it. We had issues with that stereo and a friend had a Jensen that he gave me so we upgraded. The Jensen has a LR balance control but I haven't tested it to see if it only works on one set of speakers.

For the record, the speakers themselves each only get 2 wires - the balance is just a increase or reduction of the signal sent to the speakers. Do you have 4 speakers on the inside of your trailer? Our Jayco did but not the Cruise Lite. On the Jayco you could turn on either pair of inside speakers or both pairs but there was no balance, just on or off.

Yes it has 4 speakers with a separate wire running to each speaker.

Do you have a cut off that turns off the outside speakers? My heritage glen does on the radio unit. My last camper you had to use the balance on the radio to turn off the outside speakers after quiet time.

It does have two buttons on the radio for indoor and outdoor speakers. You can even balance the outdoor speakers. The radio is working correctly, just the shorted out wires from factory

4 wires? It can be an advantage!

Our 2007 Cherokee 38P came with an AM/FM/WX/CD player system, with individual wire pairs to four interior speakers and an interior subwoofer. (Also pairs for two speakers outside and in the bedroom, and selector switches, but that's irrelevant.)

Essentially it was a 2.1 Audio system. Well, we like our DVDs and HD, and we prefer a 5.1 audio system. Speech directly in front of you with volume separately controlled. Rear speakers with separate channels so during adventure movies, you can hear that truck/plane sneaking up behind you. So I put in an inexpensive 5.1 channel "home theater" and wired it directly to the speakers. I used one of the speakers that came with it for the fifth speaker.

Needless to say, I was pleased to find that they had "home-run" wires from all the speakers so I could simply make the connections.

Update. Forest River gave me a name to another dealer and what a Huge difference. They ran new wires to speakers and found that the unit will need to be replaced also. So never let a dealer so called service tell you that is the way it should work. And these guys even called me with updates. Just a few hours after I dropped off the Salem Hemisphere
