Smart or dumb charge on shore power?

I have a 2006 Forrest River Surveyor. Does anyone know, or know how to find out if the charger is "smart" when plugged into shore power? I want to know if its cooking my deep cell battery (had issues with that recently). Trying to determine if I should leave the rig plugged into shore power when not in use or disconnect the negative on the battery and use a separate smart trickle charger? Leaning that way... thanks in advance, my apologies if this topic is already on the forum. This is all new to us, searched the site and didn't see this exact topic come up.

Best way to know is to find the model of your Converter and go to the manufacturer of the converter's website. Even if someone with the same trailer checks in, it's possible that in a 14 year old TT the converter has been changed.

Converter can be either in the lower half of the Power Distribution Center or mounted separately (a deck mount).

If you open the door of your Power Center, where you access circuit breakers and fuses, there should be a model number. You can look that up and the mfr's website should tell you if it's "smart" or not.
