Solar not working in Ibex 20BHS

Good morning all,

I have a 2021 Ibex 20BHS. At the time of purchase I had the dealer order 2 100AH 12 volt Li-ion batteries that I installed once they came in about a month later.

I made a nice battery box and wired them in parallel but I am not getting any charge to them from the solar or from them to the system. The read out on the solar controller doesn't even recognize that batteries are connected and yes the main switch is "ON" and the breaker isn't tripped.

I'm going to reach out to GoPower soon but I did have a question that I thought some of you might be able to answer. There are actually two ground cables coming out of the trailer to the box. One ground is part of the large bundle with all the positive connections and the second is a completely separate cable. What is that separate ground? Any ideas? Connecting it or not connecting it doesn't seem to matter as far as the solar working.

I've reached out to the dealer a few times now but I can't seem to get them to schedule me in for service so I was hoping to fix this one on my own.

Check the wiring to the solar controller; the factories have been known to get it wrong.

Have you checked the voltage across your battery terminals? If the BMS has triggered a disconnect, the solar charge controller may not recognize anything is connected.

BMS? Battery Monitoring System?

Battery management system. If cell voltages drop too low or over-current occurs, the BMS will disconnect resulting in a very low voltage across the terminals. Some chargers / solar charge controllers will not recognize a battery is present if this is the case.

Obviously something is wired incorrectly. I am not clear on what you mean by "back to the system." Do you mean back to the 12 electrical system in the trailer? With shore power off, do the lights work?

There are many wires that go back to the negative terminal on any TT, but usually they go to some sort of junction terminal first then are connected to the neg terminal via one wire. Your TT is apparently wired a little differently, but the idea is the same. Think of the DC electrical system like a water system. All the smaller pipes are flowing toward the same basin and get there one way or another.
