Solar on the side port

It would appear that my solar on the side port is wired back into my trailer. My trailer also came equipped with a factory installed solar panel, unannounced to us.
I have an additional stand alone panel that has it's own controller. When I plug it into the solar-on-the-side port, my stand alone panel controller indicates no connection to the battery.

Does anyone know the wiring schematic with this situation?

I am considering re-wiring the solar-on-the-side connection directly to the battery so I don't have to remove the battery cover and use alligator clips to utilize my auxiliary solar panels for extra charging capacity.

Any thoughts or concerns?

Welcome to the forum, I see it is your 1st post.

Your user name indicates you maybe have a pop-up?
Including the make/model/year of your R/V would be helpful in getting answers to your questions.

On mine, the solar on the side was directly connected to the battery with an inline fuse tucked under the frame.

A voltmeter would verify the battery connection and also check the polarity. The direct connection would work great for you since you have the controller.
