Would a 'surge protector' have told him that his problem was from the shore power? One time I used a heavy duty cord plugged into my house/garage 110v and I plugged my surge protector into it and it showed 'red' for a bad voltage and the 'surge protector' would not allow power to my trailer. Turned out that my heavy duty cord that I was using was wired wrong.

This is one of those terms that is easily confused, as there are really different things called surge protectors.

A surge protector only would not have helped (there are however different brands that do different things)...however an EMS(electrical management system) which also has surge protection would have saved it.

Very nice of the OP to keep us informed all the way to the end and the resolution to his problem.

X2 on Progressive Ind. EMS, especially for electrical dummies such as myself!
