Strange 12 volt issue

Hooked up the battery to the 'Battery Tender' in preparation for winter this afternoon. Turned off the battery disconnect & all 12 volt items are still working. Thought ok disconnect may be bad will check later. Decided to just disconnect the battery cables from the battery for the night. All 12 volt items still working!

I have limited knowledge of electricity so i'm at a loss as to what could be the issue. Any suggestions ?

Thanks
Sam

Sounds like you have your RV plugged into 120v and the converter is suppling the 12v.

All 12v systems will work when plugged into 'shore power'.... even with NO battery.
Your convertor converts the 110v to 12v and that is what charges the battery. If you keep the unit plugged into shore power and battery 'on', you will not need a 'battery tender'.

You're exactly right that is the reason!

I usually disconnect the extension cord from the camper to power the battery tender but for some reason (?) I added another extension cord for it instead. Brain fog

Thanks for setting me straight!
