Surge protector
After camping 25 plus years without one I now feel like I need one mainly because of pets if we are gone for 2 or 3 hrs. My question is if protecter shuts off power when it comes back on will the AC automatically start again? Also, are surge protectors pretty reliable, worried about it shutting off power but not restarting it? I’ve also seeing a big difference in price, I’m willing to pay extra if reliably is the reason, I’m interested in the external version. Thank you

P.I. EMS system has a two minute, 17 second delay to restore power once it shuts off for some issue. Once clean power is restored, it passes power again. If the error is 'in progress', it shows an Ex code, where x is a number related to the type of error (printed on the unit). Then once power is restored, the current error code is zero (E0) and the error is then shown as PEx, (Prior Error X). PEx stays on the display until the unit is disconnected from power, then next time there is no PEx code.
My a/c units also have a built in delay, unsure of the length. Not very long.
This is one of the plus features of an EMS rather than a surge protector. Surges rarely happen, low voltage or bad ground is way more likely.

Yes, the low power is what I’m worried about, will the AC automatically come back on when protecter restores power, worried about us not being there and dogs in trailer. Thank you

Everything that was on when the power went off will come back on, I believe. Microwave clock will be wrong time and be blinking.

Are you saying the surge protectors don’t protect low power issues, just a surge? Sorry, I’ve just started researching this, as you can tell!

Progressive Industries EMS (electrical management system) protects against low voltage and a host of other issues you may possibly encounter. They are the best, as many on here will attest IMO.

We have the progressive ems. 50 amp.
Does its job. Delays restart to protect devices. We have seen 3 issues in a year of usage. Rain storms. Works without me.
Did not like the price! Do not plan on not having one.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1 I use this to keep watch on pups when we are out, works off of my MIFI with Verizon ... If power was out for extended time temp in camper would reach danger zone fast ...

I went by Lowes and had them cut me a piece of their heavy chain that was white in color. About 2 1/2 feet long maybe. I wrap that chain around the post of a power pedestal and padlock it to the link on the ems. Keeps people walking on that might want to lift a high dollar and portable item.

I've been on a cross country tour for the last month and the PI EMS 50 has saved me twice just in this trip. First was in Oklahoma where we were getting sporadic high voltage, between 135 to 145 and it shut us down. 2nd time was half an hour ago in Raleigh NC. It shut us down due to low voltage on 1 leg of the 50 amp. It was fluctuating between 125v and 1v. Called campground and as I expected the breaker was bad. They replaced the breaker and all was good from here out.

We use the Master Lock Python cable lock. It fits through the hole of the 30X and can be tightly secured to the pedestal. It won't prevent the determined thief but it keeps the snatch-and-go miscreants away.
It comes with a 6' cable but it works fine. I understand that you can order a shorter cable from Master Lock.
