[QUOTE=cavie;2287293]Read ALL of this thread. This topic has been beaten to death. Also, there is a search button top right of this page where you will certainly find more info than you want to know instantly.

The simple answer is.... there is no 'best'. Get one that protects against surge, open ground, reverse polarity, etc.

Also know that Surge Protector is a missed used word in the RV world. Surge protector as been around for over 50 years. It is used to protect from large voltage spikes and that is all. It is a one hit wonder. When hit you throw it away and by another. It was designed for use in residential ans commercial construction. Not RV use. Cost under $100.00. What you need/want to buy is an EMS (electric Management system), It protects from large spikes/high voltage/low voltage/Misswired Pedestal/lost neutral/reverse polarity. It turns itself off until the poor conditions are corrected. It does not get destroyed. Has replaceable modual for spike voltage which is different than high voltage. Be sure what ever you buy says EMS. Cost around $250.00-$300.00

Surge Guard/Progressive Industries/Hughes are manufactures.

We have an EMS, but not everyone wants to protect for low voltage.
They make surge protectors for RVs and they detect for reverse polarity, open ground, etc. They cost less than $50 and you can buy four or more of them for the same price as an EMS.

I'll remember you said that when you tell us you had to buy a new A/C unit.
