That damn door foot light

My foot light won't go off when I close the door. It will flicker and sometimes go off when I walk across the floor. If I slam the door it will sometimes go off, and come back on several seconds later. Still other times I will come home and it is off. Next day it's on again. The later two without me getting near or into the camper.

There are two connectors in the door (spring loaded pins) which are supposed turn it off and on. Took it to the local dealer once and it was fixed for several months but it's back to being a battery drain and annoyance (hard to sleep with those yellow LED's glaring).

How does this thing work? How can I fix it or disable it?

Take the bulb out. Its got to be a bad switch and sealing problem. But if you don't need it, easier to pull the bulb.
