Trying to find a solid 12vdc

I have a 2021 Surveyor Legend RKLE and am trying to power some medical equipment in sleeping area. Basically I need a good 12vdc connection to run a 500 watt 120vac inverter. This is a heathy 40 amp draw worst case, but I actually only need about 5 to 10 amps for my application. Where is the closest source of +12 volt battery with a heavy wire back to the battery?

The Converter/power center will have a solid 12 volts direct from the battery available. Also, there should be a spare unused fuse slot. You will likely need to run #10 AWG Pos and Neg wires to your sleeping area.

I power one of my electronic devices that will peak at about 20 to 25 amps. Works great. Just be sure you have adequate battery capacity.

Moved thread from the Plumbing and Water Systems sub-forum to the Electrical and Charging Systems sub-forum since the OP's questions are specific to that sub-forum and not about Plumbing and Water Systems.

Thanks for the info but that converter power center is farther back on the trailer. It might be easier to try to run a wire to the battery disconnect switch. Both of these solutions require running a wire along the bottom of the rig and coming up through the floor. Drilling a hole through the floor is problematic as I do not know where other things are routed. Any guidance here?

Regardless of how or where you wish to connect to 12 volts, you must run a Pos and Neg #10 gauge wire from the source to the needed location. You must include a fuse in the Pos line at the battery if you run from the battery.

As to where to drill a hole.........that's the wonderful part of a DIY installation of anything. Experience is a good teacher. If the results were good, then one learned something. If the results were bad, well one learned something there too. One hopes it wasn't too expensive of a learning experience.
