Using Furrion mount for observation camera

I just bought a Rockwood Mini Lite 2104S trailer which has the Furrion backup camera mount. I’m going to go with a cheaper setup, probably a Haloview, but want an observation camera, not just a backup camera. I know they make adaptor mounts/cables to use the Furrion mount with other brands, but is the trailer wired only for a backup camera? Can I set it up for observation and, if so, how?

Thanks.

It will work. Just have to have running lights on.

Haloview offers a KIT for about $10 that includes a camera bracket with mounting holes spaced exactly for a Furrion mount. Also included is an adapter cable that connects the Haloview camera to the pre-run Furrion power cable.

As TeachTexas posted, the camera is on whenever your TV lights are on. We always travel in the daytime with our park lights on so the Haloview gives us a wonderful view of the traffic behind us!

It takes a bit of experimentation aiming the camera's field of view, but it's wide-angle enough to work as a backup camera as well as an observation camera.

FWIW, you should also be thinking about where/how you will mount the rather large 7.5" by 5" monitor. Plenty of posts on that issue already.

That Haloview adaptor worked great, but I had to pull the sharkfin off. The corner holes match perfectly with holes on trailer wall once you pull fin off. I found no way to make it work in CONJUNCTION with fin. No big deal. The fin mount is just a way to make people feel compelled to get a Furrion Camera.

+1

Some reuse the fin's rubber gasket but I tossed all of it.

The camera is the easy part..... I spent 4 days figuring out where to put the monitor. I finally made a mount that keeps the Haloview mount in full visibility with access to all functions. It does not obstruct access to any Dash controls what so ever.
I also went with the Holoview side mount cameras.

Thanks

Thanks for the info, guys. I will get on buying and installing the camera.

Not sure yet about the screen mounting. The truck already has a ham radio installed on the dash so it’s a little cluttered. I figure something out. Can I have the wife hold it for me?

I put some Velcro straps on the monitor and strap it to the rear view mirror

FWIW, to mount the monitor. I ran a couple of womens hair bungees around the monitor before putting on the glare guard. Put the thumb screws into the side. This setup holds the monitor on my rear-view mirror securely at very low cost. Easy on and off.

That's how mine looks, minus the cord hanging down. That would bug me. I ran it around windshield under edge of headliner and down A pillar.

Thanks for the info, guys. The Haloview camera and monitor are installed. Removing the Furrion camera mount was no small job due to the amount of sealant around it (not complaining). Cut into the wire, spliced the Haloview adapter in, mounted and resealed the camera. The monitor sits on the Ford Ranger's dash shelf just fine.
