I have a new pair of Duracell SLI27MDC which I understand are made by East Penn and the equivalent of the Deka Marine Master series, part # DC27. In technical specs found
here , the 20 hr capacity is rated at 90A.
I found a technical bulletin with charging parameters
here, most of which I'm unable to interpret. I can only hope the charger in the trailer can approximate those parameters well enough to avoid damage and give it a reasonable charge.
The converter/charger is a WFCO 8955PEC. From
this spec sheet and other details on the
WFCO web site, it has a capacity of 55A. That being greater than 36A (20% x 90A x 2) it should be adequate, if not sophisticated.
Combining that information with other guidance you provided, my seat-of-the-pants approach will be to charge it 3 hours daily and never let it drop below 12v, as measured by
this voltmeter. (Avoiding excess drainage was my reason for wanting an alarm.) My power needs are modest, my performance expectations are conservative and I'm taking steps to mitigate drain.
My immediate plans for dry camping are 4 days/3 nights at Cades Cove, GSMNP. Other than that I'll be plugged into shore power.
The trip home from GSMNP will be about 12 hr drive. When I arrive I'll let the batteries rest, then measure voltage at the poles without load. If needed, I'll put the batteries on my Schumacher charger, individually. If/when fully charged, I'll connect them in parallel to my Battery Tender Jr. for storage.
I doubt I'll have need any time soon but, if the occasion arises, I'll explore more sophisticated monitoring methods.
