WESTINGHOUSE iGen4500 4,500/3,700-Watt Gas Powered Inverter Generator
I searched and didn't get a good "review" answer, so here goes.
I'm considering the Westinghouse iGen4500 4,500/3,700-Watt Gas Powered Inverter Generator. $876.00 on Amazon including free Prime shipping.
Then there's this guy: Champion Power Equipment 200987 4500-Watt RV Ready Portable Inverter Generator. $920.00...same deal on shipping.
The real question is, who has experience with Westinghouse generators that can tell me yeah or nay?
The Westinghouse claims to be quieter, has a bigger gas tank for longer run times, and it has all the features and benefits of the Champion...but based on your personal experience, is it a decent product?
I have run the pants off my old Generac 2KW genny, and it just doesn't put out the juice anymore. I can't run my microwave without it overloading. Microwave demands 1300 watts to produce 900 watts heating. Years ago, the Generac did the job, but now it's tired (7 seasons of service plus pressed into service as a backup generator during power outages...it's seen its day.)
I'd appreciate some unbiased thoughts on the choice.

I run either my AC or my microwave plus everything else on my 3400W champion dual fuel on propane (2970w running power I think)

I bought the Westinghouse DF4500 a few months ago, it was used with 9 hours and the prior owner used it for camping but now has a coach with generator. It is quiet, it starts easily on gas or propane. It is heavy, I bought a jack to fit the Tundra receiver to hoist it into the bed. I have not yet used it for camping but did run my 2506S air on my property when it got hot, so it ran several hours.I also started the microwave without any issue. I think I now have about 18 hours but some of that was running the gas tank dry, propane is the way to go. Hope this helps.

I've had a Westinghouse 2400 watt for years. No issues.

I have the Onan Cummins model, (basically the same generator) but with remote start as well. I paid $1069, and love it. Very quiet and plenty of power for my needs. We have two AC's, but have never needed both at the same time so I haven't tried that on the genny yet, and probably never will. I just saw the Westinghouse on Amazon for $751, but again, without the remote start option.

I got my 4500 westinghouse off Amazon for $750 with remote. I have used it while boondocking running my ac, microwave, tv, lights etc without any issues. The remote works great as well.

Check warranty and service locations. The Champion unit has a good reputation for both. Westinghouse is not the Westinghouse you think it is. It is a license to use the name and I think you will find warranty and service to be less attractive.

WESTINGHOUSE iGen4500 4,500/3,700-Watt Gas Powered Inverter Generator
After reading this thread I decided to buy the new Champion 5,500W/4,000W Dual Fuel Inverter from Cabelas. I already have the Champion 3,400W/3,050W Dual Fuel, which has been great but the new one will put out 30% more watts. The only thing that sucks is I’ll have to drive 2-hours each way to state-line to pick it up because it’s not sold or shipped to California.

I bet it doesn't meet California's emissions standards.

Ironically enough I’ll probably use 20 gals of gas to get it.

Got mine in early 2019 and has worked great. Ran everything in 100 degre Fahrenheit temps and 95 degree humidity. We unexpectedly did more docked camping instead of boondocks camping lately, but I run it regularly when not camping and still does great

Lots of things aren’t sold in CA, I always shop for those because they are usually better.

Let me know how this generator work for you in the AC in your RV. I’ve been looking at the same generator/inverter to power my rv plus with it being duel fuel, I’ll use it at home during prolonged power outages to keep my refrigerators and freezers running. I have a gas hookup at my house that I’ve been using my old loud generator on.

I've had mine since 2018. no probs and it runs the ac. Although, sometimes the choke has an issue and I need to remove the panel and open the choke.

Thanks to all.
I made another choice...based on weight.
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B092KFBT...roduct_details
The way we camp, I realized that a nominally 100 pound generator was out of the question. I store my genny in the "garage" of my X213, and that's a dead lift to approximately 24" to 30" in height...and placing it inside through a relatively small door. (Seen here: 60 pounds? No problem. 100 pounds is asking for a back injury or dropping on my foot.)
My old generator is a Generac that served me well, and this Generac is enough more powerful...enough to even run my AC while still weighing in at 60 pounds dry.
I suffer no delusions that this Generac is anything close to a 3500 watt + class genny, but I would not be thinking about buying a new one if the old one hadn't lost a bit of its mo-jo after all these years. Last weekend, the old one ran the microwave a bunch of times, but one need only turn on the water (pump) or an exhaust fan to cause the genny to overload.
I plan to retire the old one to an eager buyer who will be thrilled to get a functional used genny for $100 or so. It will still run other appliances, and it's more than enough to serve for a backup power to keep a fridge running and run a few lights during a power outage. (I have a 9000 watt whole house generator for those purposes.)
Thanks for the insights.

After my champion gave up on me i got the Westinghouse igen 4200. Starts everything in the travel trailer including the 13500 AC just fine and is much quieter than the champion was, quite a bit lighter also. Been using it around the clock for the last 2 months and so far no problems. Give it a year and see what happens.
