WFCO WF-9800 Series

Hello All
I'm thinking about upgrading to Lithium Ion.
The current charger I have is a WFCO, WF-9800 Series, 65 amp.
Does anyone know if this charger will work on Lithium Ion? If not, why?
I do know there are several Lithium Ion battery manufacturers that have a built in BMS. I would hope the onboard BMS would allow for proper charging.
Thanks for the help

The Progressive Dynamics Website has a lithium conversion chart for your WFCO converter. I made the conversion last year to lithium. Fairly easy to do.

The reason the standard Lea acid converter is not used for lithium batteries is that the lithium batteries require a higher charging voltage. You can use you existing converter but it does not have the voltage to fully recharge the lithium batteries so the best you will get is a partially charged lithium battery. The BMS in the lithium battery cannot produce the missing voltage.

I changed to a wfco lithium convertor. Was a place selling them on ebay for about $170 shipped. 10 minutes swap.

Here is a reputable place selling them. I have purchased 2 non lithium from them and was recommended to them by others that were happy with the company. I have bought the boondocker series from them because of the better warranty.

If you have solar panels it's not a requirement. The panels will top off the LFP batteries where the converter fails to do so. If you don't have solar you do need a compatible converter/charger.
