The GFI's have nothing to do with the 12 volt system. They serve the 120 volt system only. Buy one and try it,,,,they aren't that expensive.

If the gfci trips and resets then it should be good. There could be a loose wire after the gfci in the circuit.

They're pretty inexpensive so buying one to try wouldn't be that expensive of a proposition.

don't have a FR3 but most gfci's are located on one of the outlets that feeds all the others . mine is on the bathroom outlet . this may help or it may not

Could be anywhere. In our rig one of the GFCIs in the BR controls a kitchen circuit; go figure.
