Not too worried about utility workers. They are well aware of clowns and their generators. They disconnect and work between grounds, always. I have 10KW of solar panels in a grid tie system and it is all to code. There is a disconnect switch but not a transfer switch, automatic or otherwise.
However, I am worried about you.

What you got was an answer you didnít want to hear! What you are attempting is dangerous for not only you and your property but others as well. A statement that the lineman should assume the line is energized is just plain ignorant. That lineman may have followed all the proper procedures but your installation is so far out of the norm that he doesnít even consider it a possibility. You need to listen to the professionals here. I too am a master electrician with over 40 years experience and an electrical engineering degree. My comments are more directed to others reading this post. DO NOT ATTEMPT WHAT SPOCK123 IS SUGGESTING - PERIOD.

Actually this whole thread went down the rabbit hole from the beginning and should in my opinion be deleted.

Report it using the red triangle at the bottom left corner as I did.
