Wire me Up Scotty
It's Christmas Morning!!! I finally got my 2022 Flagstaff E-Pro 19FBS - the wait was not as bad and of course as soon as it arrives, summer ends. Thinking of taking it west or south where it's warm for a test run.
I have the GoPower 2 X 190watt panels on the roof which run through the 30amp GoPower PWM. And an additional 200w panel I plan to set outside.
A few questions for you all.
I went ahead and got a very good deal on a 200Ah Lithium PO4 battery. I just can't stomach dealing with lead acid any longer and I have read every possible review on batteries.
I think I have enough solar, it's now about storing. Not sure if 200ah solo battery will be enough for boondocking, but perhaps it will. If I tag along my 1000W Honda generator - which has worked for 30 years, is still quiet and refused to die. Best purchase I ever made there. The EX1000. Starts on first pull, goes 8 hours on 0.8 gal of gas and runs in the rain if it must. But I digress.
Question 1 - Any ideas on how to best wire in the new Lithium? The battery is huge and I'm not sure it will fit on front of the unit (nor if I $$ want it out there). There is a way to make space in the unit and I wondered if there would be a closer tie-in point near the inverter? This way, the Big Lith stays inside (if I can make the space) and therefore, warmer = better battery performance (right?)
Question 2 - The RV comes with a side external panel plug in. I have read that mixing different panels in this fashion should not be a problem But should I run it (200w panel) straight into the side ports (20amps) or since I have an extra MMPT, put that between the external panel and the external input? Doesn't seem necessary since that seems like overkill and between the 3 panels even on the brightest, sunniest day, going over 30 amps seems unlikely.
Question 3: Any way to keep the lead batteries as part of service to the unit; I understand you must not combine them, but I have at least another 240Ah in lead acid /// don't know if it is worth keeping it as a standby? Hopefully after years of those old batts, I will be impressed by the Lithium.
I just want to get this out on the road. It's new and setting out there begging to go for a ride.
Thanks!
