Wired correctly?

In my 2016 Heritage Glen, I have 2 batteries that are wired in parallel correctly. But I do not believe the invertor for the commercial frig is connected correctly to the batteries. The dealer says it is correct, but???

I have attached a drawing on how things are presently connected.

The pos and neg connections from the invertor are connected to the pos and neg of the same battey. Not to the pos of one battery and the neg of the 2nd battery. Which is how the 12V system for the trailer is connected.

Are the connections correct? Or should the invertor be connected like the trailer is? Pos of one battery, Neg of second battery

Thanks,

If I was going to nitpick, I would have the fridge wired the same way as the 12v system for the trailer. However, it's 'technically' correct.

The reason for the 12v system to be wired that way is to have the batteries charge and discharge at the same rate. You run the risk of having that ONE battery that the fridge is connected to discharge a little faster than the other one. BUT, I doubt the fridge really pulls enough amperage to cause an issue, and since they are wired in parallel, it's not causing problems.

If they were wired in series, that would be a HUGE issue.

Parallel is + to + 2 X 12v = 12v
Serial is + to - 2 X 12v = 24v

Putting both connections from the fridge on the same battery is easier to trace, troubleshoot, etc. However, because the batteries are parallel, you are getting the same amount of voltage, no matter the battery to which you are connected.

This subject has been discussed in great detail several times in the recent past. The general consensus is that the trailer connections are correct, but if the jumpers between the batteries are low resistance there is very little difference.

If it were my trailer I would wire it like it presently is on your trailer. One wire to positive of one battery and the other wire to the negative of the other battery, making sure the batteries are in parallel to each other.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I have two 6v batts in series, and if they wired it up like he is describing... it would be an issue, but they are two 12v in parallel.

ASSUMING we are using 12 volt battires, it makes no difference which connection is used. Neg on #1 is the same as neg #2. As is pos #1 and pos #2 because the batteries are in parallel. You could add a third battery + to + and - to -. The result would still be 12 volts across +and -. You could line up 6 batts with the same result 12 volts.

X2 what he said.

I would add that battery connection grease will help insure positive contact of all your connections and help provide the low resistance mentioned.

Agree with others if your inverter is just an inverter. If it has a charger with more than 10 amps, then it might not be the preferred method.

Your drawing is electrically correct. Either neg from either battery is equal and same with the pos.
