Zamp charging plug

Bought a FR fishhouse last winter plug on side says warning use Zamp solar only, but the plug looks the same as a few other brands out there anyone have any experience with this using your own choice of solar panel it would be for charging 2 deep cycle batteries only.

Solar hook up

I was wondering the same thing. We're picking up a new travel trailer also prewiredfor a Zamp solar panel. I checked the Zamp website and it appears their RV setup is a standard panel and charge controller. Of course they also sell brackets to mount the panel or have it free standing.

Looks to me that I could use another manufacturers panel and charge controller. As long as I don't run more charge current than the Zamp plug/internal wiring of course. Probably would void the warranty if anything went wrong though.

I had it plugged in for a few days on a smaller solar panel to the 2 batteries didn't seem to have any ill effects and did put on a slight charge as much as the solar panel manufacture said it would on that amount of time. Guess I'll try it for a while and see.
