5th wheel brakes
From your experience how long do the brake pads last in a 5th wheel,I KNOW ITS BASED ON HOW YOU DRIVE,i know its based on how heavy a load,IM looking for approxament how many miles do the brakes last.YES I WILL INSPECT AND YES I DO CHECK THE AND RE PACK THE BEARINGS.

Just making sure... you have disc brakes (you said pads) and not shoes (drum brakes more common)?
I see nothing in your post or signature telling us your make/model

For what it's worth...
I've had three trailer campers over the last 20 years and the only time I had to replace brakes or shoes/pads was when I upgraded the axles on my previous TT.
The new axles came complete with new brake assemblies...
And all of that was towing through the Rocky Mountains and the western US of A...
As long as you take care of them, they should last a long long time!

Replaced the whole assembly for my brakes last year at the end of the sixth year. Before we retired, never had to replace any brakes on any of our RVs due to less usage. After we retired we are definitely wearing things out due to usage. We've been retired 3.5 years. So it just depends on usage......

We put 40k miles on a 2014 5er over a 5 year period. I clean the brake shoes with compressed air and rubbing alcohol annually when checking the grease seals. Shoes are still serviceable but my rig was less than 10K lbs, I would imagine shorter life expectancy for brake shoes on a heavier unit.

My 2016 Cedar Creek has over 21K miles on the brakes. I just had them serviced at the dealer for Cedar creek in my area this Jan, 2019. The service manager said they were good to go. I have a very good relationship with him since I have known him from a different dealerships that I have dealt with in the past. He was the only mechanic I would allow to touch my trailer at that dealership.
I would except to get 50K miles out of them with annual inspections to determine the real life of brake pads.

I notice most folks state how many miles you have on your trailer. Are you running a hubodometer, keep a trip log, or just estimating? I was talking with Liz and we have no idea how many miles we put on our trailer over any length of time, especially after we retired. Really never thought about, but it would be interesting to know.

I never thought about keeping track of mileage on my first 3 trailers (all were previously owned!). When I bought the current one new, I started keeping a log - even added the mileage on my pull test before I took possession of the trailer.

My RAM keeps the mileage for the trailer as it knows when we are towing.

My 2007 Duramax doesn't even know the trailer is back there. Sorry, couldn't help myself  . My truck is too old to help me with that stuff. I'm thinking about getting a hubodometer just for fun. Liz is rolling her eyes at me.... again.

My Rand McNally GPS keeps track of my mileage and fuel cost for every trip. There are three tabs and the third tab is set up for total travel distanced. The first tap is 24 hours and than resets. My second tap resets every 7 days and the last tab does not reset until I manually reset the tab. I than enter this into a spread sheet for camping cost and notes on the camp ground if we were to return to the area.
I also have to manual enter the $ amount per gallon for fuel + mileage and this is kept up to date for total cost.
