A frame hitch failure

Houston we have a problem. We got back from a trip to the Outer Banks Monday afternoon. On I-40 and NC 64 we encountered some of the roughest roads we have seen yet. When we unhitched at home we discovered our hitch has bent at approximately 5-10 degrees. We talked/emailed with Lippert yesterday and they said they would get back to us in 2-3 days. So far we have been unable to find anyone here in Greater Atlanta who can fix this. Any suggestions?

Yikes, If the trailer is not under warrenty........

Yes I did a quick google search and found numerous repair places in the Atlanta area..

Search tailer repair and go from there...... did your RV dealer recommend anyone? It does not had to be an RV dealer.

Good Luck !

Thanks for responding. I have already done google searches. The ones I have talked to want me to tow the trailer there to even decide if they can do it. Obviously I want to minimize towing only to be told they cannot fix it. I am hoping for some personal response/experience.

Yes it is. Posted in two different areas for two different possibilities for someone knowing something that would help.

Thanks for the response. Do you know anything that would help us solve our problem?

Got room in your garage for everything in the trailer? I've got a feeling this will best be repaired at a real trailer shop, not an "RV" dealer. It may have to be flat-bedded.

Tongue weight? Which WDH?

Don't worry about answering my questions -- you've got too many problems right now. But I'm sure we'll all appreciate follow up when a solution is reached.

Contact your insurance company.

I know you have a lot to contend with and the roads are lousy no doubt but there will be questions such as... Were you using a weight distributing hitch?(looks like it) What does the trailer weigh? What is the tongue weight? (noticing the BIG side storage doors in the front) Have you modified the tongue in any way? (added a battery and new box)

Best of luck to you.

Cringe

I cringe when every time I slip on or off my bars. The bang sound is unnerving. Good luck with your speedy repair.

You can stop the banging by lowering the trailer jack, which raises the trailer. Turn out on the bars and raise the jack for travel

Do you have a picture that shows more of the underside supports? Where and how is it bending?

I'd call Three Way Campers in Marietta. They have full service department and might be able to help you out. https://www.threewaycampers.com

Cannot see what is bent unless it is the c channel spanning the front of the frame. The A-frame welds to this member seem to be good. The diagonal tubes under the storage area seem to be good.

Your first set of pictures from the passenger side the C channel looks bent at the side wall of the trailer. Maybe its an optical illusion?

So your saying the box beams under the trailer look good? How about where they weld into the I beam under the storage box? Thigs look straight there?

Thanks

Lippert may even send someone to your home. They have done so for some in the past. Not sure about them these days though.
