Another TPMS "SAVE"

Just sharing for the benefit of those who still might be on the fence as to the value of a TPMS.

Somewhere along the line I picked up a screw in my tire that caused a slow leak. Driving along Saturday I noticed that one tire was a little low, then later a little lower, until it triggered a "leak alarm".

That warning saved me the cost of a replacement Goodyear Endurance tire (Local price installed, balanced, State tire disposal fee, and Sales Tax right around $160).

Instead I went to one of the local tire stores and got it repaired free as well as a free cup of coffee

For some darn reason, every time I buy a new vehicle or a new set of tires, shortly after I end up with something in the tire that forces me to get it repaired. From then on, no issues until tires are ready to be replaced.

Glad to hear a "win" story. We put an "inside the wheel" TPMS on our rig over the summer. It was a no brainer when swapping out the factory tires. A couple extra bucks to protect $1000 in tires.

I figure it the TPMS has already saved half it's cost by just saving the tire. Even better, NO DAMAGE

I like the fact that the built-in battery of the TST color monitor will typically last 3 or more 8 hour drive days before needing about a 4 hour recharge. Eliminates the need for one charge cable "littering" the dashboard. I just realized this in January after 2 8 hour drive days, and still finding the built-in battery still working 2 weeks later when I had to move another 5 hours.

Any advantage to the colored monitor over the monochrome monitor?

Slightly larger (read slightly) and has no external antenna sticking out. (just a stub)

It will also read more sensors (and groups) and programs a bit easier.

There have been reports of those with colorblindness or issues differentiating color having a hard time reading it.

My ONLY complaint is in some light conditions (not too bright and not too dark) the automatic light sensor makes it display too dim. If the truck angle turns slightly to where the sun is positioned differently it brightens up.

I also agree the built in battery lasts a l-o-n-g time.
