Awesome Myrtle Beach experience

Imagine if this were to happen when you are towing or towing heavy while just leaving on vacation.

Several weeks ago I put new tires on my truck. Installer told me I had right rear grease seal leaking. Drove it back to Myrtle Beach where my RV was. Took to local RAM dealer and they for $750.00 replaced rear seal and both sets of rear pads. Drove it around for 3 days and Friday drove down to Georgetown and back to Surfside Beach and visited Walmart. As I was pulling out of Walmart @ 15mph it sounded like I ran over a bicycle. I stopped and jumped out expecting to find rider and bicycle under the truck. Saw neither. Got back in truck and drove 3 feet and the most horrible screeching you ever heard. I got out and walked around and wife drove another 3 feet. Sounded like maybe new brake pads had come loose. Called wrecker. They toad me back to RAM dealer where they removed right rear dually and pulled axle. Outer bearing was broke into millions and had NO grease. He pulled inner bearing and it was a little blue but nothing wrong but NO grease. Tech said "it's not oiling". I said where is bearing grease. He said they don't grease bearings. I laughed out loud. I have PML aluminum cover. He had put 8 pints of rear lube in it. RAM requires 10.1 pints and my PML requires 3/4 quart more. Long story short they were apologetic. They replaced all bearings, seal, races and hub for free. I and they were very nice to each other......End of story...Can you imagine if I had left there towing my 27k rig and the bearing failed.

So they underfilled your differential and didn't pack the wheelbearings? Wow that's quite the blunder. Glad you weren't in the middle of nowhere.

Glad they stood behind their work, however there is absolutely NO excuse for that type of work or lack thereof . Could have been a disaster if you were towing. I commend you for your attitude. You were very lucky and really glad it worked out for you.

Lucky you. When I saw the Myrtle beach Tag I thought that you were going to complain about the run down state of Myrtle Beach. I was down there at the begining of winter and thought that Myrtle Beach looked like a downmarket version of a bad British Seaside resort in the 1950's!
I can reccommend Huntington Beach and Murellls Inlet just south of Myrtle Beach on the way down to Georgetown as beautiful spots with a magnificant beach and State Park.
