I put these on, load range F, were 20 lbs heavier per tire than China's load range E tires.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on an lt tire rated around the same as the Goodyear’s?

I feel if you increase the load range 2x higher than what the factory provides then it doesn’t matter what brand or where they were made.
The goal should be get a tire that’s indestructible at a good price. Increasing your load range will provide a better tire for your RV.

Some people do use LT tires as an ST substitute if the tire can carry the load. I would still try to use ST tires, but thats just me. There was a time when a few RV mfgrs. installed LT tires at the factory.

If my toyhauler weighs 8600 dry plus a Harley ultra limited and whatever my wife can cram in there and let’s say a 11000lb total weight. If i divide that by 4 i come up with a tire needed to be able to support 2750 lbs. is this correct? I’ve found maxis m8008 but they only show 2830 rating, isn’t this cutting it close? I want the best tire i can get to try and prevent another blowout. I have Tpms on my truck so i can monitor the pressures to make sure they aren’t under inflated. Any help is appreciated
Have you had your toyhauler to a scale to get an actual loaded weight on the axles? That weight will determine the load range you need for your tires.

For my 5er, the last time I weighed it I had 8646# on the axles. I installed Goodyear Endurance Load Range E tires that give me a 11,320# capacity for the 4 tires (inflated to 80 psi). That’s a 30.9% safety factor; more than enough for my comfort.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I decided to try the Lt 235/75/15 tires that have a 2756 load rating so similar to the Goodyear’s at 2833.

It's an industry standard:

NEVER use replacement tires that are smaller than the vehicle OE size or with less load carrying capacity than what the OE tires provided when inflated to the vehicle manudacturer's recommendations.

You have described using a LT235/75R15 LRE with a maximum load capacity rating 2755# to replace a smaller tire, the ST225/75R15 LRE with a maximum load capacity rating 2830#. The industry calls that "Plus Sizing" and there are procedures for the installer to follow to make a satisfactory installation.

Questions:

1: Will the tire manufacturer approve the Plus size fitment?
2: Will the vehicle manufacturer approve the designated size change from ST to LT?

No tire dealer would use your replacement recommendation if they had to provide a bill of sale with the vehicle VIN number on it.

There is no way to get around the fact that the replacement provides less load capacity capabilities than the tire it would be replacing.

There will probably be no warranty on the tire from the manufacturer but that’s not an issue for me. As far as my trailer manufacturer approval,it doesn’t matter to me if they approve it or not because it’s been out of warranty for a year. I want it to be safe and have read numerous posts where people have switched to an LT tire and been very happy.

Also i will be installing these myself. They will be aired to 80psi and balanced. I also rotate my tires. I know there are a lot out there that will say stick with the st tires but there are also quite a few saying they’ve been using LT tires for thousands of miles with no issue. I want it to be safe and reliable and every thread I’ve read about blow outs has been from st tires. I couldn’t find any blowouts with the LT setup. I would think the LT tire would be made to a stricter set of standards because they have to be on a vehicle that hauls passengers

There are many more people that regret putting LT tires on toy haulers.

Thin sidewalls, tend to bulge more at max weight, more side to side movement.

Ok so after much research and going back and forth i decided to go to the Goodyear endurance tires. I hate the idea of giving them my money after their ideas and beliefs but they seem to be the best and safest out there. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice

I have no idea what beliefs and ideas you are talking about, but congratulations on letting common sense guide your decision to select a quality tire.

It's a misapplication and a safety violation.

True, you may never have to face the consequences for the misapplication and safety violation but they will be riding with you.

Today’s ST tire market provides the ST225/75R15 in two higher load capacities that are all steel in design, LRF & LRG, probably a fact a DOT inspector would point out.
