Burnt Axle

Recently we posted a thread here concerning our latest failure on the Crusader 270 RET. en Last week when entering into Illinois, we stopeed to find a local camp ground at the Mississippi River/Illinois Visitor Center. Before leaving we notoced the left rear wheel was pretty hot, further investigation revealed the center bearing was gone and the wheel was hanging on by a thread. Long story short, the inner and outer bearing had in fact failed, the races had glued themselves to the axle. J&J here in East Moline was able to salvsge the axle, that was a good thing because no one on planet earth could or would take ownership of the axle assembly. No identifiaction was evident on any of the axles, it either had to be dexter or lippert. The only id on the brakes were, one three said made in China, one said Dexter. To this day, no one had identified these Crusader 270 RET Axles????
The axle was able to be salvsged, new bearings, backing plate and shoes were installed today, we just got it back to the camp ground here in Geneseo, IL. Maybe one day soon we can either head to Georgia or to Elkhart, still have nbot solved the slide-out issue as yert???

we lost a bearing in Colorado last year on our 270RET. We were in El Norte and had Glenn's auto repair put in bearing purchased at NAPA. We had them re-pack the other three bearings. This year on the first day of our trip to FL the same bearing burned up again after about 4-5,000 miles. This time the hub cracked and the brakes were falling out so all had to be replaced. Our axle was manufactured by Lippert, had the wife crawl under the trailer to get the model and serial number so Lippert could get us a part number for the hub and brakes. I plan to order a spare hub and left and right brake set to carry with us because these parts can be hard to locate.
