Changing tire size. Maybe?

Was thinking of going from a 175 80 13 to a 205 75 14. Anyone ever done this? Reason being d rating on the 13" is 1600 pounds. Its 3000 pound trailer. 14" is north of 2000 pounds. I think I have the room. From what I've read they are 2" taller.

If you have the clearance maybe. Some of those spindles for 13 inch wheels can't take the strain a 14 inch tire can put on it. I speak from experience. Went to a heavier axle to handle the side loading.

I would , and have upgraded several 13" trailers to 14" wheels using rims from a junk yard and tires from the used tire facility if using the trailer locally. If you are traveling away from home with the trailer I would suggest NEW tires and don't forget the spare. Or carry both 13" wheels/tires for spares and just change 'em both if you have an issue. Chances are when the flat tire fairy sees that you have 2 spares he will just pass you by.
