So it's spingtime, and you wanna get that dewinterization done and get ready to go. Most of us old fogies know the importance of making sure the tires on our rigs are properly inflated before we try to raise our stabilizers. Some folks don't, and it cost them time and money. I only say this because it happened to my neighbor this week. Over the winter his trailer tires leaked down on him, but not enough to be noticeable. However, it was enough to put pressure on his stabilizer jacks. The motor wouldn't raise the jacks, so he got out the ole crank handle, and ...well let's suffice it to say he broke it. Fortunately there is a Camping World nearby, and just by chance they had the parts he needed in stock. All I can tell you is he paid more than he should have.
Before we did anything else, I fired up my portable air compressor and inflated his tires to the proper level. The entire trailer rose about an inch overall. The other stabilizer went up like nothing happened at all. Now, I realize not everyone stores their rigs with stabiizers down. I do because sometimes I have guests and I put them up in the trailer. I am basically writing this thread for newbies because this is not something that is in their heads already. It's just one of those things on a list that you never made because nobody told you or you didn't think of it. I think it's a pretty important thing to remember.
So, unless you want your neighbor or your brother-in-law to stand there and watch, all the while chuckling at your delemma and all the money you just forked over, check them tires!
