Disk Brake conversion

I agree though, 8k seems on the high side. Way high. You may have to buy new wheels to match the bolt pattern, but I would think you would be able to use your almost new Endurance tires.

So far I've learned that disc brakes are better, but I'm still not convinced that they're necessary...kinda like -- a gasser gets the job done, but a diesel is better. If you've got the bucks and enjoy the bragging rights, then go for it! A Caddy is better than a Ford, so should we all need a Caddy? Once you do you'll never look back!

Lol. I had no reason for bragging rights. I wanted the best brakes. I started out with TieDowns and that was a huge expensive mistake.

TieDown discs. Worst brand you can buy.

Never heard of them before but looked them up after you mentioned them.

They have a big warning on their site that their brakes are not compatible with electric over hydraulic actuators...they can only handle 1,200 psi. The Titan actuator goes up to 1,600 psi. The TieDown system works with the surge coupler. Using surge activation on trailers like most of us here have is not a good idea..not at all. They are too heavy and one has very little control over their operation.

Yep. That warning is new. That's not why mine failed though.

My son had them on his car hauler. Gross weights got up to 25000#, he would use the trailer brakes alone a lot of times. I didn't think he should but his excuse was he wanted to save the PU brakes as they were more expensive to replace. I did like them when I drove for him. Those were Kodiak's.

May be high but remember I have the work done to old for doing it myself. I value my life to much When you up grade axles they will be 6 bolt hole pattern and most likly 16inch rims so now new tires and wheels not cheap and I'm not putting some crummy looking rims on a nice looking camper. So kit installed is about $2600 new tires rims about $1200 Labor to install Axles $500 (Guess) Price of axles. $700 about so $5000 so I missed it by 3 any way you look at it its not affordable to do. Later RJD

My previous TT had 15 inch wheels with 6 hole pattern. So, yes, new wheels are required, but tires are reusable. It is still very expensive though.
New trailer?

I guess if you can find a axle with 15 inch lug pattern then be a bit cheaper but I think all the newer ones are coming with 16 inch. Nope don't see a new tt either. Probably the one I have now is the last. Later RJD

I really like the disk brakes, it’s awesome stopping. After one more trip to Alaska I plan on buying a new camper, it would be great if Cedar Creek would let you option in disk brakes.
