Endurance difficult to balance?

I mounted and balanced the first new Goodyear Endurance today in my hobby car shop. Dynamic balanced on my Atlas spin balancer which is very accurate, and was surprised that it took 12 oz of weights to get it perfect. This is on an aluminum wheel on my 233s, 205/75-14 size.
I realize this is a heavy trailer tire but has anyone else been told this tire required alot of weight to balance?
Thanks!

The biggest weight I saw was about 2 inches, the other wheels where smaller. Just had them installed a week ago.
225/75r15.
Hope that helps

I think you can answer your own question by doing the other 3 and reporting back...

Bought six in the fall.
Had mine balanced when I purchased.
No tire took more than 4 oz.

Turn the tire 1/3 way around on the rim and rebalance. (Deflate first, of course.) You may be able to turn it several times and use little or no weight. Sometimes rim and tire are heavy in one location and if installed at the same spot it takes a lot of weight to balance.

No, I didn’t see any dots on the tires. I may start over and check the rim balance with no tire, and then clock the tire to a different position on the rim.

Trailer wheels are typically lug centric and not hub centric like auto wheels. You may need a lug adapter to properly balance. I am not sure how true this is for aluminum wheels but it may be something to consider.

I did consider this possibility but I do not have the lug centric adapter for my machine....visually it ran true with the hub cone.
I called Goodyear tech assistance after I saw a white dot on the ither tires that I missed. They stated to line up the dot with the valve stem (new steel one installed). I turned the tire around and lined it up. Resullt was it took 5 oz total vs 12 oz previously. This is dynamic balancing with adhesive weights.

Thanks to all who replied!

I had Goodyear install Endurance tire on my trailer a couple of weeks ago. I had to ask them to use the lug adapter as they were not familiar with trailer tires. They also put 35psi in one of my tires so it is always a good idea to check before you drive!

As Archicamper has pointed out, an adapter is required. See in this reference.

I have a call in to Lionshead to ask the question of hub centric vs lug centric for their aluminum wheels.
My reasoning, EVERY wheel made that uses tapered lug nuts is lug centric...it has to be as the lugs self center when tightened. It COULD also be hub centric. It just depends on whether the center hole was machined (aluminum) or stamped (steel) in the true center of the wheel.
My wheel shows NO sign of being off center as does the wheel in the video.
Thanks for the reply!

Despite several calls to Lionshead I could not get a call back from their tech help on the lug centric question. Oh well, they probably wouldn’t know or would give me the wrong answer.....I bought a lug adapter as shown in the video above. Thanks to all who replied!
