F53 lube - Zerk #9

When lubing the steering on my 2016 F53 chassis, I applied grease to all 9 points in the attached image.

#9 took a LOT of grease, but never indicated full. I stopped pumping after about half a tube of grease. Something isn't right.

#9 had a rubber cap over the zerk (yep, there is a zerk, not a plug).

So, do I just keep pumping or what? Is the diagram misleading and I should not have put grease in the box? Or maybe I just messed up big time and the diagram is incorrect. Maybe the gear box should have had hydraulic fluid?

Totally confused after following the lube diagram.

it does say lube points. I don't think ford would put a zerk fitting were it wasn't shouldn't be. If you greased all the other fittings how do you come out you grease # 9 with a 1/2 tube ?

How do I know I greased # 9 with a 1/2 tube?

It took about 1/2 tube to lube 1-8. Then I emptied the tube in #9.

The amount of grease taken to do 1-8 was surprising. I really didn't expect to use that much grease.

Lubing

Hello, from what I've heard and read - Ford recommends a couple of squirts in the steering box with the same grease as the other lube spots. If anything, you might notice some grease venting out if you put too much in. It's an often overlooked lube spot, so you might be ok with the amount you squeezed in the box. Hope this helps

We have a 2012 Georgetown and greasing front end is part of my yearly maintenance. Generally all the zerks take about the same number of grease gun pumps before I see any reaction ( new grease pushing out of joint) . Not sure what's going on with your #9 but I would be careful to not overfill and blow out the joint. Are you cleaning zerk and around the joint before you add grease maybe dirt / old grease has clogged things up
