Fortunately Im in town dealing with a slow leak on new FR3. Im getting authorization with road hazard warranty to get replacement tire. What happens when Im on the road in the middle of nowhere? I call, get towed to Joe's Tire shop and hope he has my size Goodyear tire?
Who has dealt with a flat in the middle of nowhere and what are the do's and dont's when dealing with that situation?
Depends what caused the flat, if was a nail or something, in the thread and not the sidewalk, pay the bill and move on, had the same in the middle of nowhere and paid the 20 some dollars and went on my way.
They will ask you if you have a spare, if you say no, they will stop and buy a tire for you, but very expensive very common and best to carry a spare, i know for sure both GS and Coach Net will do that.
Does a mobile tire guy come? Can they plug a puncture? WIll they have my size tire?
They will get all this info from/for you before they head out, they don't just show up and hope they have something that will fit or work. If they think they will be unable to perform the repair then you'd be looking at a tow.
Consider how many semis are running all over the country with no spares and how many have tire failures. These mobile tire companies should know what they're doing by now.
Commercial tow company's can repair a tire with a plug on the site. Sidewall you would have to replace, if worst came to worst, if it was a front flat, they can always take one off the dully to limp you in to a tire shop.
