I went up to 16" LT's and 80psi.

Maybe not a big deal short term, but it could make a significant difference long term.

This is one of the reasons we have pneumatic tires and not solid tires.
Tire pressures always depend on the tire max rating, the load and the road conditions. Modern radial tires have soft sidewalls to absorb rough roads.

This is the correct answer. No need to run up to max psi (on the tire) unless you just want to or your weight requires it. Don't worry about the temp increase because the tire mfgr. has compensated for it, UNLESS there is a significant variance. For example, if three tires are at 140 degrees and one is 180, you probably have a tire, wheel or bearing problem that needs immediate correction.
