Grease for the bearing
Hey all
I have another hub greasing question.
I have 5000 plus miles on my Wolfpup and feel it is time to probable replace the hub grease, but do not want to do it myself. Not that I am lazy, just want to make sure it is accurate.
All that said, if you have someone else do it, who would it be? Who have you guys used to do this? I dont want to take it to an rv shop and wait 2 months.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Three months and counting until we head to the Smokies.

I pulled out in 2016 with a brand new fifth wheel for Alaska. I put 12K miles on it that year no problems. Once a year I jack the wheels up and pump grease in while turning the wheel. It pumps back out some older grease and I wipe it off and put the rubber cap on until next year.

If you have a utility trailer place near you, that would be a good place to contact about inspecting and repacking the bearings. If they don't do it they will most likely know who would.
If this is the first time you're doing maintenance, I'd highly recommend pulling the hubs for a complete inspection and regrease.

I do the same thing and no issues. I just had my trailer inspected in PA and the mech pulled one wheel to check brake lining and said everything looks good. Love the easy lube setup on this trailer.

Any reputable tire shop or trailer sales/manufacturing business.

Pumping grease into bearings
Keep in mind, while pumping the grease, if you don't see grease coming out the hub then the rear seal is bad, all that grease will be filling the break drum area, that would be the time to remove the drums, clean and inspect bearings, replace the rear seal and repack the bearings, local shop in my area charges $250 for tandem axle.

You forgot replace the break shoes. The grease will penetrate and contaminate the friction material the shoes are made with and the grease can not be cleaned.

Doesn't really need to be a "trailer shop" as a lot of tire stores and independent repair shops do this service as well. It's no different than packing bearings on car's/trucks that still use the same bearings on front wheels (or rear on fwd).
In many cases the automotive shops will do a better job than the mechanics at a "trailer shop" (unless it's a truck trailer shop). Something about training and skill levels.
