Hubs / Drums

I have a 2013 Surveyor Select 305V. What size and type hub is appropriate for this trailer? I’m not certain of the axles other than two axle, torsion type. It’s a six bolt.

Had a wheel come off on the road and damaged the studs. Anyone know where I can get the specs for the axle so that can replace the hub and bearings?

Thanks.

Crawl under the trailer and look at the backside of the axle. If it's a Dexter axle you'll find a label (might be gone) and a number stamped into the axle tube. You can google Dexter for contact info and a replacement.

If you have the hub off you can take it to an automotive machine shop and have new stud(s) pressed in.

Some repair shops, even tire shops, will be able to do it too. Studs are always getting damaged or broken. Only special attention needed over a regular stud replacement is to make sure head is below surface of magnet contact area.

Usually quicker and cheaper than ordering a new drum/hub and the new one won't fit your brake shoes so another break in will be needed. If wheel came loose bearings shouldn't be damaged but you'x have them off anyway so just inspect.

Yep...I had a Tiedown disc brake assembly's studs fail me while I was on the road...wheel came flying off. I parked the trailer and took the disc to an autpoarts store an hour away and bought studs that were close in length. I just pounded out the old ones and used the lug nuts to pull in the new ones.

Thank you for your advice and input. Quite frankly, I forgot you could just replace the lugs. That’s the direction I’ll go.

I did figure out the axle though. Forest River Lists it as a 5080lb axle. It’s actually a 5200lb.

Thank again.
