I知 confused !

Buying a new travel trailer wildwood 2021 27rk - I have a concern - the trailer almost weighs 7000Lbs however I was looking at the sticker along the side - and how does the axel weight make sense? 3500 per axel wouldn稚 that be 7000- no water , no tanks , no cargo . Please clarify for me if you can RenderedImage.jpeg

The other weight distribution point is the hitch. Usually 12-13% of the gross weight.

It does seem off did you look at the stickers on the axles to determine the 3500?

3500 x 2 = 7000 plus 700 on the tongue should be max

Are you saying that the GAWR for each axle is 3500 lbs. ?

Engineering statics 301.

The ups equal the downs.

#7000 on the wheels, #1000 on the hitch thus the package can weigh #8000 or so. Somewhere on a sticker it will give you the trailer weight. The literature has the empty tongue weight.

If you load it really goofy the axels will not explode but, the trailer will sway. Tires might explode.

Everyone starts out with a bunch of weight up front with the batteries and propane.

No, something is amiss here. A WDH has nothing to do with a TT's UVW, GVWR or GAWR. Either the sticker is wrong or they installed 3500 lb axles on it. I would physically check the axles. Should have a tag on the axle tube with PN and rating. My Salem 27RKSS is a fraternal twin of your Wildwood. It weighs in at 6800 lbs. It came equipped with 5200 lb. axles. If it does indeed have 3500 lb axles, I wouldn't buy it.

What D.W. just said.

You have a right to be confused.

The published data shows 7058 pounds empty plus a cargo capacity of 2452 for a total of 9506 pounds. A pair of 3000 pound axles ain't gonna support that.

Maybe this will help. My TT has a GVWR of 8903 lbs, my two axles have a GAWR of 4000 lbs each.
Is the axles weight rating too light?
No, because the scaled tongue weight with one rv/marine battery and two 30# lp tanks with nothing else in the trailer is 1109 lbs.

8903# - 1109# = 7794#

Never use the dry weights in your calculations. They are fictional. Always start with the GVWR, figure 10 to 15% for the tongue weight on a travel trailer and 20 to 25% pin weight for a fifth wheel. Remember, hitch weight, whether WDH or 5th wheel is always added to the tow vehicle.

i cannot quite make out the sticker.

If the 7955lb is the max trailer weight, loaded:
2 X 3500 = 7000lb. the other 955lb is expected to be carried by the hitch (a 15% allowance would be closer to 1200lb).
While it is entirely possible the wrong axles were installed, it seems like they are simply following their norm of giving just enough capability. This has been commented on profusely in this forum.

While I was initially ecstatic to find our Roo had more than enough capability in the TIRE loading, the axles 2 X 3000 are under the max trailer weight (~6200), putting the remainder on the hitch.

Exactly! This rig is handicapped from the get go with 3500 lb axles w/ 10" brakes, and ST205/75R15D tires. Additionally. this is a rear kitchen model with cabinet, pantry and dinette storage. None of this weight rearward of the C/G will be transferred. Entire configuration is marginal at best.

It would be nice to know what your GVWR is. You uploaded low quality pictures. And how do you know it weighs 7k? I can't find a 2021 RK if I Google it, but I can find an RK-L which says the empty weight is 6156 lbs. Yes they can add weight before you get them. The GVWR of an RK-L is 7627. That gives you 1471 lbs of payload which is pretty standard for lightweight TT's. Am I missing something?

Our 2701SS has 3k axles and GVWR is 6660 if I remember correctly and when scaled fully loaded we're good to go.
